AquaTerra is an integrated project of the 6th EU RTD Framework Programme that aims to provide the scientific basis for an improved river basin management through a better under-standing of the river-sediment-soil-groundwater system as a whole, by integrating both natural and socio-economics aspects at different temporal and spatial scales. This should be applicable to European contexts facing modifications or changes due to Climate Change, Land Use and pollution of soil and water.

The objective of BMW project is to establish a set of criteria to assess the appropriateness of integrated models for the use in the implementation of WFD. Moreover, the project aims at testing and demonstrating the use of integrated models applied to selected intensively studied river basins.

Euro-limpacs is a €20m Integrated Project funded by the EU designed to assess the effects of future global change on Europe's freshwater ecosystems. The project is co-ordinated by the Environmental Change Research Centre, University College London and has 37 partners. The research programme is relevant to the EU Water Framework Directive and other European and international directives and protocols and supports the EU's charter on Sustainable Development.

The SedNet mission is to be a European network for environmentally, socially and economically viable practices of sediment management on river basin scales. Due to the trans-boundary nature, no single water manager or country has the responsibility of solving sediment management problems at such a scale. SedNet is established.

The overall objective of the ANSEA project is to provide a framework for assisting in the implementation of European Directive (2001/42/EC) on the assessment of the effects of certain plans and programmes on the environment, that ensures a sound integration of the environment into decision-making processes at the strategic level, i.e. in the formulation of policies, plans and programmes.

SERIS is an inventory of national state of the environment reports. The database contains brief publications details for recent (1997 onwards) reports for countries included in the EEA's third assessment report. SERIS contains links to the reports and to the main organisation involved in the report. Reports can be identified by their geographic coverage or the year of publication. National and multi-national reports are included in the database.

The Compendium of Tools for Watershed Assessment and TMDL Development supports the watershed approach by summarizing available techniques and models that assess and predict physical, chemical, and biological conditions in waterbodies. It is intended to provide watershed managers and other users with information helpful for selecting models appropriate to their needs and resources.

Welcome to the Watershed and Water Quality Modeling Technical Support Center. The mission of the Center is to provide assistance to EPA Regions, State and Local Governments, and their contractors in the implementation of the Clean Water Act. The Center which is part of EPA's Office of Research and Development (ORD) is committed to providing access to technically defensible tools and approaches that can be used in the development of Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDL), waste load allocations, and watershed protection plans. The Center will reach out to experts throughout EPA and States to bring technical expertise to the Center.
