Martyn holds a PhD on the measurement and modelling of nitrogen cycling and leaching processes from Imperial College, London University. He has an applied background in soil science, hydrology, and modelling, with research expertise focusing on the interaction between land use management, nutrient supply, and environmental pollution.  He currently leads projects on nitrogen and phosphorus loss to the environment, including the provision of policy advice at national and European levels.
