He
holds a MSc. and PhD in Geology with emphasis on
hydrochemistry from the University of Aarhus,
Denmark. He is a senior scientist at NERI and has
extensive research and monitoring experience in
hydrology and the delivery, transport and fate of
sediment, nutrients and pesticides in river basins
from more than 50 research, monitoring and
feasibility projects conducted since 1986. He has
international experience from participating in a
research project under the EU 4th Framework
Programme, projects under the EEA and EU-PHARE
project on implementation of surface monitoring
network in Lithuania that is in compliance with the
EU Framework Directive.
He was involved in the initial planning of the Nation-wide Danish Monitoring Programme on rivers and agriculture regarding network design and sampling protocols and, since 1989, he has participated in the annual data analysis and reporting of the environmental state. He has additional experience in investigations on the ecological effects of river restoration with special emphasis on fluvial habitats and geomorphology.
